I think barring the unexpected, there is 0 question the Rays will be contenders the next 3 years (the loss of BJ Upton will be detrimental, but either Guyer or Mahtook will probably be able to slide in for a net loss of no more than 2 wins). 2015 will be murkier as James Shields will be gone (barring another extension), and for 2016 onwards, the Rays will have to have some of our current prospects hit. Still, 3 years of us very probably being contenders is definitely better than what I would’ve expected coming into this article.
Is that unreasonable? For some reason, he seems like a guy who might fly through the minors and make an impact sooner than later. Are there any comps out there for this guy?

Pretty cool graphic

Very Cool.
Missing Cobb.

The window stays open as long as we keep hitting our drafts well

I'm envious of your your draft pwnage.

I'm envious of your "your" pwnage
nomoredevil - February 16, 2012
I'm that envious, I gotta say your twice.

Lovely graphic altogether

I am super psyched about Mahtook.

I really like Mahtook also
I think he’s the Rays 3rd best prospect. I feel like Andre Ethier but with better defense is an apt comparison
benderbrodriguez - February 17, 2012
Is hunter pence too far off?
Then again I was making the same comp to Guyer
BossmanJunior333 - February 17, 2012 via mobile
I feel like he could have better plate discipline but inferior BABIP skills (just because Pence has among the best BABIP skills in MLB)
But the end result wouldn’t be very different
benderbrodriguez - February 17, 2012
interestingly, Ethier is very close to Pence in babip
behind by .005 career-wise.
SandalsNoPants - February 18, 2012
It's really strange, though.
Looking at batted ball s, Pence kind of looks like Kotchman, while Ethier has a really nice LD that makes more sense.
SandalsNoPants - February 18, 2012
and by kind of looks like Kotchman,
I mean looks strikingly like Kotchman and has an even worse LD%.
SandalsNoPants - February 18, 2012
Oh I didn't even notice that Ethier's was that high
no goddamn clue then
